Hi guys,
I've had a very embarrassing afternoon after actually creating a mountain from a molehill in my new build property! Basically my wife said she'd noticed water dribbling out of a 'black 2 inch bit of plastic' found just under the pressure guage, under the kitchen sink. So I took took a spanner, reached behind and tried to tighten it a turn or so. I must have twisted it the wrong way as the black piece instantly shot off and water began pouring out!
I managed to turn off the mains and retrieve the black piece, and an insert with a spring which came out of it. I put it back together and screwed it back in place. It's no longer leaking (which is a positive) but I think this piece had something to do with the water pressure (or flow?) and now I'm worried the pressure or flow is wrong and that I'm risking further leaks etc?
Can anybody tell me what it is I accidentally removed and if I should be worried? When no water is being used in my house at all, the pressure guage is right at the top end (10 ish). When I run the water it drops to around 4?
Thanks in advance from a hugely embarassed, dog-house dwelling husband!
