I recently asked a builder to do some work on a leak outside my Mothers door, but in spite of his best efforts, I feel he has missed the problem. There is a large damp patch to the interior wall, just inside the PVC door. There is a wooden lintel outside above the door, which is so soaked that it is like a sponge when I touch it. I realise that it needs replacing, but short term, what can I do to prevent the rain from the room from soaking it? The guttering seems fine, just wonder if there is something missing that should have prevented this. Mum only recently moved to the property.
