My mothers house has developed a severe leak that I'm trying to remotely diagnose. It seems to be a purple o-ring on a fitting just after the water meter. Is there anything special going on here - I've never seen a stop cock with those kinds of o-rings before? Just wondering if it's the property of the water board or if the colours have any special meaning?
The body of the thing seems larger than I'd expect and I wonder if it could also be some kind of pressure reduction device?
In the picture below it's the bottom o-ring that's blown out. The bottom left of the picture is where the drain cock is. Sorry about the photo but access is impossible.
