Hiya.

We've had rainwater seeping down one side of our chimney breast in the loft and recently had a roofer out to quote for repair. He's come back with the figure of just over £1000 for replacement of the flashing around the chimney.

I may be being a touch naive but that seems a rather high cost and wondered if anyone had thoughts on the figure. I'm in the West Mids area.

Thanks in advance.

DT.

If the job requires a lot of scaffold and is a big chimney it may be ok, if its a simple flashing job with no scaffold required then it is very high.

Thanks for the reply. We're a 1930s semi with a fairly small chimney. The guy did say he'd need scafolding but said that he has his own and wouldn't be using a third party scaff company. To be honest, it seems astronomically high for what he's describing.
