    Looking at your last picture there should certainly be a flat rubber washer in there....just like shower hose connections.

    The rubber washer is shown in the first picture.

    Put those pink marigolds on and give it a really good tightening up. :)

    Yup, +1 on the 2 washers, the thread on the new handset might not be long enough to allow the fitting to compress the washer properly.

    When it's tightened does the hose end still twist around in the fitting?
