Hi

Probably a v minor issue compared to most but would appreciate some guidance.

Basically the hot tap pipe for the bathroom sink has been leaking for some time. It clearly needs replacing but in between now and getting someone in i wanted to seal the base of the pipe where it meets floor with some sealant. To do so it needs to be dry but the leak seems fairly constant.

To enable it to dry out before sealing i was going to shut off the house water supply and run the tap until it was empty. Is this the best approach or am i missing something?

Thanks in advance.

Sorry but you are just wasting your time really, get a bit of absorbent cloth (old bit of towel or similar) tie it around the pipe to soak up the leakage and get it fixed directly, if it is too fast to stop that way you need to turn it off and leave it off till fixed anyway.

DINGO1303, hi.

I take it that the escaping water from the pipe is escaping down wards into and below the floor?

If so and the escaping water is not yet flooding the floor of the Bathroom, if you seal the gap between the pipe and the flooring then the escaping water may / will flood on to the top surface of the floor? could be I have it wrong? I have assumed the above?

I believe that there are some specialist tapes available, I have never used them but they claim to seal the leak? It is my opinion that this type of tape repairs the use of tape is regarded as a temporary fix?
