You'll have to excuse me, I know nothing about heating systems.

My lounge radiator is leaking, when you turn the temperature knob to turn the heat up there seems to be water coming out from under the knob.

I've come down stairs this morning after putting a teatowel around the pipe hoping to catch the water and there is a very large water stain on the carpet.

I'm concerned the water is not just coming from the top but from maybe underneath - saying this the teatowel was absolutely wringing through so I do think it is coming from the temperature knob (sorry don't know the technical term!!)

Any advice would be appreciated- hoping I can just tighten something?!!

Sorry the part that I think is leaking is the valve, so when i turn towards the plus sign I can feel a little water here. Do I just need a new valve?

thanks for your responses, got a corgi registered matey coming round tomorrow to have a look (mate of my other half) hopefully he can sort it!

packing gland if it`s a quality/commercial one ...........domestic cheapo valve from China

if you take the plastic knob off the valve there should be a small nut with a hole in it that the valve shaft comes up through. under the nut there should be some sort of material that will compress when the nut is tightened, sealing the shaft and stopping any water coming up from the valve seat.you may be able to tighten this nut a small amount to squash the packing material onto the shaft again.though on some cheap valves you cant do this very well

It could be a belmont valve that has 2 o rings inside and as far as I know is the only valve you can change the o rings on without draining down..
