Hi. First post from me and I'm looking for some advice on a leak between two pitched roofs on my bungalow please.
I've attached a picture to give an idea of the layout of the roof. The run of valley from front to back is approximately 6m and the leak in question is right at the start of the run possibly compounded by a lack of fall and incorrect use of materials.
The pitched roof to the left of the pic is the original and the one on the right is an extension about 8yrs old.
Rather than repair the affected section I plan on replacing the whole lot but my question is what materials should I use as the currently fitted grip liners are in my opinion unsuitable.
Thanks

The GRP valley liners appear to be unsuitable for the flat run - how they have been joined together during the run, and linked at the actual valleys is worth showing in pics or investigating further.
Pic the two valleys - one looks to have been roughly cut, & the other has some kind of long object at the LH valley position.

The last course of tiles on either side should have come further forward, & if the liners have been pointed then the pointing is too far back also. Or perhaps its the felt thats been held back?

The liner should also have been taken further forward say 50mm to discharge over the hopper

The verge pointing has the appearance of never having "taken" to the roof tile or the verge undercloak tile. A very poor mix very badly applied.

A tin man used to come on here and zinc might be the way to go but getting an adequate fall could give a few difficulties.

Thanks for the reply. The liners appear to be joined with mastic or sealant of some sorts and they've used 3 along the length. . There's a piece of lead where the two valleys join that direct the water into the gutter. The valley to the left is the original tiled version and the one on the right is a grp liner.
The obstruction in the left valley is a length of wood I was using to crawl down the roof.
The pointing as you mention is shocking to say the least and is something I'm happy to tackle once I've sorted the gutter. That'll be the previous owners bad selection of tradesmen! It was a local company that specialise in glazing that where on the plans for the extension.

Pics would be welcome, if nothing else it informs the many DIY'ers who follow these posts.

A gutter like that should be done in code 5 Lead with an expansion joint welded between the sections of Lead which should be no longer than 2m.
When you remove the existing rubbish you will probably need to carry out quite a bit of timber work.

+1 to above post.

Not a diy job unless you are confident and experienced in leadwork.

I'm a firmly competent diy'er having re roofed my garage but admit I've no experience in leadwork.

Shocking that!! Is there lead under the grp valleys?? And maybe they put them in as a repair?? If they have is shocking cheapest option is strip out afew courses of tiles off either side and replace it with epdm firestone rubber, you would most prob need to place timber in box valley.then re tile back in ,no joins needed with epdm

Nope no lead underneath just roofing membrane.

Cant believe it as not leaked in from day one!!! Terrible workmanship,, at least with epdm you won't have to form steps in the box valley and you could have a go at it your self

Where's a good place to buy supplies from?
Thanks

Have a look online pal there are plenty of options and you can get it cut to the size you need so no waste. Have a look on you tube at how to fit epdm,
