leaking valve

hello, woken up this morning boiler not working, checked in the airing cupboard and the Regulator selector valve is leaking beside the lever.

will I need to replace this or can I use a sealer to repair.

Post a pic if you can. Have you power to the heating, if not, then you have popped the 3 amp fuse. Probably by water getting onto a motor/ electrical component.

still need to know what type of valve and where exactly it has been leaking/ dripping onto

If it's a honeywell type valve fixed on vertical pipe and it's the nut that is weeping.

Try giving it a nip up, if that doesn't work, you may have to drain and put some compound or PTFE on the olive and re tighten.

With some valves you can just change the head rather than the whole body. ( need to know which one)

You may also lock the valve into the manual open position to get you hot water/heating until you can get a replacement ( once it's dried out, or isolate electrically from the system)

Blimey, that's a blast from the past.

Drain down and get the system converted to a Y plan would be my advice.

The automatic efficient way of doing what that valve did.

You don't see many of those anymore.

The one I went to a few weeks ag, all of the TRV pins were stuck down stopping circulation. I guess you've had your heating on, so not likely the problem

It's a manual valve and so shouldn't stop your boiler working unless the leak has dripped onto an electrical component/ switch

You could be looking at another fault with your system/ boiler

I got 2 of them valves , one still in the box , a servo warm one & the switchmaster equivalent


Very reliable valves nope they do not make em like that any more all use this leccy caper now
