I have recently started renovating an old terrace house and some of the water pipes have got areas of green deposit on the outside of them and when the heating is off they start to leak very slowly. Is there a way of curing the problem without swapping the piping?? Anything you can treat them with? Could you put something similar to radweld for cars in the system to block any small holes??

You could try some internal leak sealer available from merchants if your leaks are on the heating side. I'm surprised that they leak cold and not hot as the pressure is greater when they are hot and that is normally when leaks show themselves.
