Leaking Window

Good Evening

We have some water penetrating through the brickwork around the window.

I think it’s the bodge they put in has failed. It’s quite spongy now, should I remove it? If so how and what to replace it with?

Should the plaster dry out do you think?

Any advice appreciated. Well relevant anyhow
