just removed a radiator for a friend put blanking cap on the thermostatic valve seemed ok he just rung and said that when he put heating on the valve is leaking valve is turned off anyone help thanks.

Sounds like the trv don't shut fully then
Is it an old trv ?

Even if it is passing water your cap didn't do a good job.
 
yeh looks really old i turned it to o position put ptfe tape on thread and then the nut seemed alrite then he just phoned said he put the heating on and water started to come out had same trouble in another room when i did another radiator what would be the best thing to do now i got to go back in the morning to have a look im new to this as just finished my college course thanks.
 
i'd use a rubber washer in the bottom of the cap rather than ptfe.
or remove the trv and cap pipe. fit new trv when installing rad.

Is he re-installing the rad or be taken off for good ?
If re-fitting rad fit new trv and cap off till rad fitted.
