If this has been on before my apologies, I did try a search but couldnt find a similar type of tap.

I took the cold tap in the kitchen apart to change the washer cause the leak was getting annoying. I have hit a wee snag though. I havent come across this type before so I have taken a couple of poor pictures to see if you can tell me how to change the tap washer.

It has an oring near the top of the head stack, then a wee red plastic type disc/washer near the bottom, see the pics for 'cough' details.

You have a ceramic 1/4 turn cartridge - no washer to change!

You can replace the ceramic discs but it's quicker and easier to replace the cartridge. Take the cartridge and tap head to a decent plumbers merchant (the tap head to make sure that the new cartridge has the same number of splines and fits the head)

Hello,
Thank you for all of your help, I am in a kinda of remote area and done have any plumbers merchants within a reasonable distsnce, the neares B&Q is Edinburgh, but I have to rely on public transpot.. coupled with the fact that when I rang them this morning they had no idea what I was talking about.

I live in a house belonging to a housing association, I didnt want to bother them if t was just a matter of a washer, but i couldnt even find what I needed on the web.

So I will phone the housing association on Monday and get them to sort it out. It was so much simpler with the old taps.

Thank again folks
