I would like to install some LED rope lights within the joints (between slabs) of a new patio I will be laying. What IP rating should I be going for?

IP44 rope lights are very common and only around £2 per meter, IP65 is less common but costs around £10 per meter. However, I'm not sure whether even IP65 rated rope lights would be safe in a torrential downpour? I have looked for IP67 rope lights, but can't seem to find any.

Or am I being over cautious and go with IP44?

I would be looking for IP67.
As if it is at ground level and water can not soak or run away freely, the lights could become immersed in water.

Do you know where I can get some IP67 rope lights? Can't find any :(.

How they are mounted is entirely up to you - obviously if you stick them to the side of a slab they will point sideways, or lay them flat between the slabs to have the light going upwards.

However before buying any of them, make sure they are actually suitable for outside use - such as are they robust enough to have people walking on them, and will sunlight cause the plastic covering to disintegrate?

Very valid points, will give both companies a call in the week.

If anyone does find any other IP67 rope lighting, would very much appreciate a link :).
