In the downstairs toilet my wife would like to place LED strip lights around a boxed shelf. I was wondering if i could wire into the lighting down to a hidden plug. From there connect to transformer for the led stripe light (30cm only). So when you turn the light on also the shelf lights up

Would this be possible? any help thanks

You would use a hidden socket not a plug.
You cannot use a transformer for LED strips as transformers are AC devices and LEDs require DC. Use an LED driver.

But yes what you are proposing is feasible. However I don't like the idea of a 13 A socket on a lighting circuit, better to use a 5A type or even just a junction box. Get an LED driver that is not built on the back of a 13A plug.
