Newbie on the site and crap with electrical stuff ( but specialist in IT, computers networks etc )

Have knocked together a light fitting with 8 led in serial connected via transformer to the light/mains.

Problem is when switched on the lights are really dim.

We were sold the transformer and LEDs by Maplins who said the kit was sufficient for the job so wondered if anyone can give any advice on getting them to work

Cheers

You don't give much detail, but should almost certainly have wired them in parallel...

If it is a transformer that is wrong. Transformers are wound devices that give out AC. LEDs need DC so you should use an LED driver.

By serial I presume you mean in series. Did Maplin tell you to do that?
