Level Access Shower Flooring prep - Please help :)

Hi Everyone and Tictic ;)

We finally got keys on Friday night and have slowly started peeling away at what is a house in much worse nick than we'd thought when we went to the viewing (months ago!) :(

Ok, so we finally have measurements:

Room size - 2.80 x 2.40m
Joists - span 2.80m, height - 18cm, width - 5cm (sorry forgot the spacing between joists BUT there are 6 joists so I'd guess 450-500mm between joists).
Room is upstairs

I jumped around the floor and it was solid, no bounce.

Also, we will be using a marmox showerlay shower tray, probably 1200x900x20mm. The drain that goes with it is a horizontal outlet one with a discharge of 32l/minute.

Do you think we should stick with 25mm ply or will 18mm be plenty? Even though it would be nice to raise the floor as little as possible, if there's any doubt we'll do 25mm.

Thanks again for all your help!

PS - all walls are brick (two external). The external ones are cavity. Will using 12.5mm marmox backer boards do away with needing to insulate? (I'm hoping to have a go at dry lining with British Gypsum Gypliner Universal for walls so probably won't be able to fit much between the studs). Also,as they are waterproof, do I also no longer needs vapour barrier (I think I don't). :)
