Hello, when creating a level threshold on a new build house is it necessary to fit a proprietrty threshold drain or is it possible to just leave a gap of say 1cm between the edge of the paving and the sill of the door frame? Thanks.

how much water can a 1cm gap drain away in a given time?

does your path slope towards the door?

do you live on a flood plain?

has your street been adversely affected by the recent spate of flooding?

Hi, thanks for your reply. The path will slope away from the door slightly, I'm not on a flood plain, and the road I live on was hardly affected by the recent rains - the soil here is very sandy, and even after a downpour there's never any standing water. I'm not sure about how much a 1cm gap could drain in a given time, could I go wider than that?
