I have a screed concrete floor approx 3.5sq metres which I want to level before putting porcelain tiles down. Anyone know the best (cheapest and easiest) floor levelling compound to use for a beginner.

I have recently just used some Cementone Cempolatex. Easy to use but not particularly cheap at £30 for 25kg. That much would cover your area to a reasonable depth. If you use it, make sure you give it a really good stir using a drill attachment.

unfortunately cheap and self leveling compound are not words you often see together

Best to seal the floor first with pva solution to reduce the suction.

I bought B&Q screed online, delivered within 2 days and did an excellent job. Cheapest around, after searching a lot on the net and with diy/merchants etc in my area. If you want any tips on laying let me know.

i have to ask, why is a bag of self leveling compound never flat :?:
