Our kitchen floor is currently half plywood, half concrete, with a small gap between the two different surfaces. The plywood surface is about 5mm lower than the concrete surface. I'd be really grateful for any suggestions as to how to level the two surfaces, fill the gap, all in preparation for laying a vinyl floor.

Thanks.

i would fit 4mm or 6mm plywood ( which ever makes the floor heights the same ) to the wooden side. Then re-plywood over the top with 4mm and lip this about 1" onto the concrete side and glue with mastic to the concrete. Then do a full skim with levelling compound upto the plywood, Next feather finish the join between the two floors so perfect. If you do this method, there will not be any cracking where the two floors meet and you will have a perfect subfloor.

A cheaper option if the concrete is already in very smooth condition is to leave the second lot of plywood out and just feather finish between the two subfloors together, but this will crack if there is any movement!
