Hi all

I have a music room in a spare bedroom in my house. The room has a chipboard floor and the living room is beneath....

I'm considering adding a second layer to the chipboard to add a bit of mass which should help a little with sound transmission. Might even use MDF or something similar (denser than chipboard).

Anyways, my actual question is...:

The current floor is not very level - sloping down toward the middle of the room. This has always bugged me. If I'm going to go for the second layer, I think I'll try to sort this sloping out at the same time.

Just haven't got a clue how I'd do it!

So any pointers would be fantastic.

Cheers

Max

PS - as the heating pipes run underneath the floor boards, I would - if at all possible - like to go for a solution which would not make it mega-difficult to access pipes in the future if the need arose. Would also be nice if the process was somehow reversible should we come to sell the house and the new owners which to restore the level of the floor to match the rest of the rooms....
