I have a quarry tile floor, tiles 9 inch square, 1 inch thick, laid in a staggered brick pattern.

are there any techniques for lifting the tiles without breaking them?

I want to re-lay them after putting in a DPC, but hammer/bolster and crowbar seems to only break the tile.
i've seen reclamation yards selling spares for around £5 per tile, which is very expensive to replace the complete floor. was wondering how these reclamation yards managed to salvage their tiles?

A flat bladed tool can be used to prise up the tile from the base then carefully lifted, slot a screwdriver or similar tool under and gently lift them
