I thought LES = Large Edison Screw,
I have just read that is Lilliput Edison Screw.
LES seems to be GES Giant Edison screw.
So E40 ' (Mogul) Giant Edison Screw (GES)'

So what should I be looking for I am looking for Large Edison Screw energy saving bulb

Not sure.

The numbers are millimeters so as Mr. Edison would not have used such dastardly things I can only assume it is the dreaded Europe.

Somebody will know when it started.

The light fitting I just bought says 100w ES GLS Max bulb.
So the ES is not mentioning a size (This is an PIR Exterior security fitting)

ES is (standard) Edison Screw - E27

GLS is General Lighting Service - ordinary incandescent lamps, before all these new types came along.
