Light problem

I have 2 switches in my kitchen for the lights one is a dimmer and the other an ordinary switch and often when i come in off night shift i press the dimmer to switch on the lights but nothing happens until i flick the other switch, then it seems to work ok for a few days,All has worked before nothing has changed, i have changed the dimmer for a new one and checked all connections in switches and lights for a loose wire the only thing i have not changed is the other switch ,Can this be the problem?

Very likely. It is a changeover switch and may sometimes get stuck in limbo. (ie neither in one position or the other).

They are cheap enough to buy.
