Hi guys, I hope everyone is well :)

Hopefully a quick question, I’ve had a wall removed and steel goal posts installed and now want to fit a light switch in the plasterboard that’ll be covering one of the vertical steels, will this be signed off by building control? Just thinking it may impact the fire rating? Or am I overthinking it, cheers

I believe you can get fire resistant inserts for plastic and metal light switches. I think most building control departments expect the client to provide the electrical evidence that it complies i.e. LAs cant afford to employ full time electricians. But if the plasterboard complies I don't see how minimum intrusion for the purpose of an electrical system can be objectional.

Blup
