Lightening bolts into wall, for Awning

Morning Gents,

I'm about to mount an awning on a new build.. so brick-insulation-breeze block.

The fitter in work said to use these.. https://www.forgefix.co.uk/Products/lightning-bolt---hex-head

I just wanted to double check as I don't need it falling down ! It needs 6 of the fixings so the load is spread.

It is John 3mtr with an out reach of 2.5mtr.

There has been a problem with cantilevered awnings pulling the wall down when loaded with the weight of wet snow. This is not a failure of the fixing bolts, but of the wall.

Thanks John, it will only be extended during calm sunny days so hopefully we won't have any issues.

The awning manufacturer should specify the fixings, and potentially the pull out force required, and you match this with the fixing choice.

Normally it's m8 and at least 70mm in the wall. You need to be careful with what type of brick you have so that fixings are not in hollow frogs in the wall, and definitely not in any joint.

Those bolts in that link may be OK, otherwise use a traditional expansive bolt.

They should be stainless steel, unless protected
