The plastic boxes for round conduit are pvc, and are hard to break.

The plastic switch almost certainly won't be pvc.

I wouldn't worry too much about installing plastic fittings in a domestic garage, unless you are particularly careless.
 
I have never ever encountered a brick wall that is flat enough to screw a plastic or pvc box to the plastic will break and the pvc will distort given the the fact that engineered brick will destroy most diyer's masonary bits the tendancy therefore is to drill the mortar with the results I mentioned the only real solution is to back off the box with washers any way it's a moot point
