I have a lighting circuit that consists of living room, dining room hallway and upstairs light. All have been working until recently newly installed lights started to flicker and then completely go out.

I have checked all connections and all are secure. The upstairs light which is the start of the circuit is now working but no others.Would a faulty light cause a break in the circuit?

Would it be worth eliminating a suspect light from the circuit??

The living room light when installed had a buzzing sound, would this cause the fault on the other lights.

despite you saying that all the connections are secure, this is still the main culprit to investigate..
the last working light or the next one on the circuit has either got a cable that's come loose and / or fallen out, or it's a broken or damaged wire somewhere between.. ( this could even be at the connections as overtightening the screws can crush or even shear the copper off the and of the wire.. )

it might be nothing to worry about, but be very cautious when checking this fault!

Do you have more than 1 lighting circuit in your house?

thinks, 'start of circuit...upstairs...feeds..dining room' (downstairs?)
