I am wanting to put in a seperate lighting circuit for the kitchen as I would like to have 4 seperately switched sets of lights.
1.Plinth lights-16off x 0.3w led lights(TLC www.tlc-direct.co.uk/Products/FL1133W.html)
2.pelmet lighting(2 x 20w)
3.LV downlighters (7 x 20w dimmable)
4.LV downlighters (5 x 20w dimmable)

Should I use 2.5mm from the cu to the first junction box and then downsize from there.

NO, why would you want to do that? Unless it was a long long way away then there is nothing to be gained.
