I have installed a new light with a dimmer switch into number twos son bedroom.. in son number 1s bedroom is the same setup.. for some reason sons number 1 turns on the light in son number twos bedroom?? But this does not work other way around. Any ideas

When the 12 volt spot lights became a craze there was a problem with standard lighting set-up as there was no ceiling rose to use as a junction box so some electricians on new builds and full re-wires started to use the American idea of using the switch back box as a junction box instead.

I would guess this has happened in your case and you have selected the wrong cable. This system was not standard so to guess exactly the fault is impossible normally only two wires to a switch and earth to back box or switch if metal so normally no mistakes can be made.

Oh. Well in one room the light has 3 loop red wires and the other only has two loop red wires?

So you have changed a light and switch to cause this ?

A pic of the light wiring would be useful.
