I want to get rid of a ceiling light to just use table lights is it possible to remove the light fitting & replace it with a plastic cover flush to the ceilig---- If so where can I buy one of these and how would I do it?

Presumably you will use the old switch to operate the 2 or 5 amp sockets for the table lamp.

A ceiling rose or extra large conduit box lid would cover where the old light is, but removing the wiring, plastering and painting would look miles better.

Better still, consider keeping a ceiling light on a separate switch, so you can choose which lights to have on. The 2 or 5 amp sockets could also be switched separately too if you're really flash.

Fit a simple flush ceiling light and don't switch it on (or switch it on if/when you realise that you did need a ceiling light after all).
