flourscent lights that use starters are they electronic oe magnetic ballast just was confused when i was bying some 2 d bulbs and wanted to make sure i get the rifht one as on the catalogue it stated what type ballast to be used with

If it uses a starter it is magnetic. There are two types of HF ballasts most use the same tube as with magnetic, there are some specials that only have one contact each end, but I have only seen these with fire resistant fittings they are not very common.

A 2 pin 2D fitting with have a magnetic ballast, but no starter. The starter is built into the lamp.

A 4 pin 2D fitting could have either a magnetic or electronic ballast. If magnetic, it will have a starter.
