Ok, the girlfriend is doing my t1ts in about this, so i better fix it.

Recently, the flow rate coming out of our shower has decreased by a noticable margin.

So, i measured the hot water flow rate at the kitchen tap (couldnt find my flow cup, so used measuring jugs) and got 10.5l pm. Did the same with the shower head off, and got 8.5l pm, a drop of two litres a minute.

The shower is upstairs in the bathroom

The cold water coming in to the property is 15l pm.

I have yet to check the BP of the boiler, will do this tomorrow.

The shower is connected to a thermostatic mixing valve, compatible with combis i was told. It worked fine previously, just been the last 3-4 months we have noticed a drop.

ANy ideas. I thought maybe a blocked PHExchanger, but surely this would affect the kitchen tap too.

ATM I am only a service engineer, not a breakdown guru so need some help.

so you are getting 10 idd litres of hot water in the kitchen? but only 8.5 in shower?

if i have read that correctly then you will have problem with the shower mixer

if the flow rate at the bath taps is the same then ther eis chance you may have blockage in the heat exchanger, which will need to be cleared

just measured the bath taps, and they too are 8.5l pm.

What i dont understand is why is the kitchen taps not 8.5l pm as well, or im guessing its the resistance of the longer pipe run to the bathroom, which isnt that long approx, 5-6 meters.

I did the plate heat exchanger test, and run the hot tap, then off and noted the temp, and it was only 74C.

check the flow regulator washer first. its behind the nut sitting at 45 degrees on the top left of the PHE.

i remove them and set the flow rate by the black tap on the inlet. saves messing about.

ok, i just used xsol, and it too said to check that, so i will.

mmmm.... i drain down then ?

not much of a drain down, turn off the black tap with the water running and crack the joint, most of the water will drain out of the tap.
