Hello all.

I hope someone can help.

I have just had a stone/brick raised wall built and filled it with broken bricks for drainage then about 12 inches of sand and the remaining in nice planting topsoil.

However, I was told today that I should have put a lining against the inside of the wall to protect it against moisture using something like visqueen.

Is this right? as I will need to move a good few tons of soil to put some in as well as having to tuck the visqueen into the top course or add a coping as a new top course.

any help would be nice.

thanks

I have lined raised beds with DPC and you still get moss growing on the bottom of the wall. The next time I shall use Corex with 1/2" of gravel between it and the wall, taken right down to a level lower then the wall base, to try and get all the water to drain out of the wall.
