i have put some 1000 grade lining paper on a distressed wall, but under natural light the imperfections still show through, is it ok to add another layer of lining paper?
The thing is with lining paper is that it is not meant to make rough walls smooth, although it does help. It is meant to give an even absorbency rate on walls that have different surfaces like filler, new plaster, emulsion paint etc. Normally applied sideways so that top wallcovering hanging vertically wont pick up the same seams. Certain wallpaper manafactures recomend the use of lining paper before putting up their paper as some are known to shrink when drying out like "Shandkyd" papers. Sometimes when using thicker grades, this can make small bumps in walls appear larger. 800 grade is probably about the best one to use in my opinion.
