Hi All

I have taken down an internal doorway and frame. I checked first to make sure it wasn't loadbearing - both ceilings are down either side, so it was easy to see the beams.

On top of the structure was a couple of blocks that easily came off, then I hit a large concrete lintel that, IMHO, seems to be far too large for purpose.

As you can see, I have taken the rest of the frame down but have paused at the lintel - could it be offering some cross bracing support? Or is it safe to remove?

Thanks

Lee

it doesn't go under the stairs, just stops about an inch from the woodwork. The other end is buried in the hall/frontroom wall, which is 4" wide

Thanks

The lintel is doing nowt since you removed the wall below.

You would lose very little lateral restraint as there are a load of joists doing just that above!
