Liquid PTFE

I have done 25 posts in 2 days. This plumbing lark is addictive. :)

I put the PTFE tape on the rad valves 1/2" thread.
what for?

If you mean the thread on the base, where you screw there nut that holds the compression joint together, there is no point. There is no water on it. It is the olive that seals, which is the reason for putting tape or other sealant on it.

Same if you mean the nut that holds the valve onto the tail.

I wouldn't tust any of these Fancy Dan pastes on threads, good old PTFE tape for that, or hemp & Boss White. The only other one I like is Loctite55, where you can crank a fitting back a bit.

We have an ongoing Hospital job, where we are re-doing all the steel 'screw & socket' heating system that was installed with some kind of thread paste, that just cracked in the fittings over time & they're leaking like a sieve. Hospital was built in 2003!!!
