LIVE LOUD! and prosper

Bloody Welsh
An old work mate from South Wales used to holiday in the North back when the nationalists were setting ablaze holiday homes (come home to a real fire etc). They would speak loudly and rudely about him ( and any other non locals in the pub). He replied in fluent Welsh which shut them up.

Finally! fizzin' bluegrass vid' keeps leaking into these posts.

An odd Russian troupe belting out a bangin' tune - don't ask me why the goat's in there.

Live! from Abby's porch...

bring your own spoon, y'all dip yer bread in real good now.

I didn't see Tull 'til the early 80s on their Broadsword tour but their peak years in the Seventies were still vibrant during one of the best gigs ever. This tune from Songs from the Wood remains an all-time classic

Hard to believe this band isn't in the R&R Hall of Fame.

Live! from Madison Square Garden; Led Zep's legendary gig at the peak of their power. The Song remains the Same.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is pointless American crap, and irrelevant to how good a group is!

I've seen Jethro Tull a few times, always great. Better live than on record. I never saw Led Zep live, although I've seen Plant solo.

The days of one man and his dog busking for pennies are long gone.
Some of the best street performances require a good deal more than that...

Me favourite live rock footage is of Terry Reid from the 1971 film 'Glastonbury Fayre'. He does a long song called 'Dean', and is joined by Linda Lewis part way through. I'm VERY sad to say that it has been removed from YouTube, but you can probably find the DVD in any good charity shop for 99p. (The rest of the film, apart from Fairport, is poor).

So I'll have to settle for my next favourite live clip: The Who doing 'A Quick One While He's Away' from the 'Rolling Stones Rock and Roll Circus' 1968 - this was a TV special made by the Stones and featuring various groups of the day. The story goes that The Who so upstaged the Stones that Jagger shelved the project and it never got shown. The Who's section (this clip) did get released in the 70s on their 'Kids Are Alright' live compilation (highly recommended). The whole show did eventually get released and the Stones weren't too bad - it's one of the last things they did with Brian Jones.
