Im in the process of installing a Catnic CN6XB 2850mm lintel for a clear span of 2550mm into a ground floor 100mm blockwork wall which only supports the first floor joists.

I intend to support the lintel using engineering bricks as a padstone at either end (minimum 150mm bearing).

Can someone confirm if I can support the floor joists directly off the lintel?

Somewhere Ive read you can and can't, I need to know before I submit plans to building control.

thanks

No problem with supporting floor loads off the CN6X lintels according to Catnic's own brochure:

Suitable for standard duty loads
Applications
CN5X & CN6X
Universal application caters for all loading conditions
• Direct floor or roof load
• Supports concrete floor loads
• Supports point loads eg. steel beams etc
• Optional 4 course profile for high loads at extended lengths

Hope this helps
