Load bearing wall removal

Going to be changing the layout of a room and to do so I need to remove a load bearing wall, I'm well aware what is involved with this but unsure what part the Council will play.

Do I need a structural engineer for load bearing issue's ?

Will I need a building warrant ?

You will need a qualified (and insured) bod to spec' up the beam and pads and provide calc's.........

....to be handed over to building control once you notify them when applying for a building notice.
