Is it a wise idea to site a combi boiler near where the most of the water will be used?
This would save wasting a lot of cold water going through the pipes to the shower/taps.

well why not say what the symptoms are with your shower instead of asking stupid questions and expecting us to have a crystal ball, how do we know where the most HW will be used ?

I put a question on a thread before this one which outlined the original problem and put this comment on the wrong one of the threads that I started.

Maybe not.

Better to be where the water is used most frequently or where speed is actually important.

Your shower or bath may use the most volume of hot water, but thats a long-time event where the pipe etc, will warm up without affecting performance (within reason eh).

Your kitchen sink probably has the most frequent short time usage but low volume so really, you want that to be the priority as you don't have to constantly wait for the piping etc to heat up and for the holding cold water to be pushed out.
