Hi

I am re-arranging an upstairs bathroom and one layout would mean the bath tub (acrilic) will be almost in the middle of the room. It's a 2 up 2 down Edwardan terrace and the bath will end up almost in the middle of the floor (above the downstairs light of the dining room). The joists are about a foot apart and 8 inches thick. Is this OK or are there any 'rules of thumb' I should be looking at?

Cheers.

Work out how you are going to run the pipework, waste pipes in particular, bearing in mind that notching or drilling joists near the centre of their span is not permitted.

Is there a rule on the position of the notching? The span is about 320 and the notching will need to be about 100 from one side.
