Locca Door Entry System / Intercom

The transformer supplying the control panel is marked as Output 12V DC 350mA. This has become broken but spares are no longer available. I do however have a spare transformer for the outside bell push / intercom which is marked at 12V DC 1000mA.

What is the significance / meaning of the mA figure and could I use the one marked 12V DC 1000mA to replace the broken one marked at 12V DC 350mA?

Thank you - Apologies for my ignorance but is it then the control panel that determines how many mA it needs to draw or does the transformer send in this case 1000mA regardless?
