probably a very common issue this time of year
went in the loft for something. noticed the felt was quite wet.
the type of house i have is a 1930s house originally with slate tiles but seems to have been changed for normal at some point (a long while ago)
the felt is like a plastic so definitely not breathable
i have ventilated by cutting small sections into the felt and have put soffit vents on the front and back of the house. its quite a windy area and the house is quite high up compared to others.
this seems to have made a massive difference in the ventilation up there.
now i seem to have some white on the rafters. there not wet but quite soft. i would say structural sound.
what do i do about treating the timbers. if i use creosote will it just kill the fungus as well. there doesnt seem to be much on the market for white fungi
many thanks
