Hi all

I’m looking to board my loft for additional storage purposes only. Currently there are chipboard panels on top of the joists, with loose insulation just rolled out on top of this. Im not sure if there is much insulation between the joists as these boards are difficult to remove.

Any suggestions for how best to do this? Conscious I don’t want to squash down the insulation but I would need to raise the new flooring by nearly 300mm to keep in line with Building Regs for insulation etc.

I am considering laying down a couple of layers of joists perpendicular to each other but this sounds heavy and costly.

Any other ideas or suggestions welcome as I’m just a novice.

thank you!

Depends on how much additional storage, roof/joists construction details, spans etc.
