Hi,
My current loft hatch is loads of boards stuck together (possibly T&G) and looks a bit crap, so I’m going to change it for 1 piece or board.

Is there any recommendations for what wood to use?

I’m concerned about one side (lower side) being warm and the other side (top) being cold and the wood warping or something.

I’m not a joiner, so I don’t even know if that’s possible!

Thanks.

Recommend fixing foil faced foam insulation board to the loft side to stop heat loss.
Celotex or similar.

Replace with purpose made loft hatch , comes already insulated.

I’m only the inner part that lifts out. Changing the whole hatch is a bigger DIY job then I would like to take on at the moment. Maybe a job for the future.
