Loft insulation: board it over?

I have been laying some glass wool-type loft insulation. 1970s bungalow.

Question: If I board over the insulation, will this give a more effective insulation compared to just leaving the insulation laid between the rafters?

If you do a search you will find this topic was covered very recently. :idea:
 
I can't find any posts which discuss whether boarding over loft insulation gives any noticeable improvement in insulation for the house.
