loft joists

Hi,

I'm thinking of converting my attic , but wondered if the joists are strong enough for this. (The house was built in 1901)

Does anyone know the size of joist recommened for this purpose ?

what is the span of the existing joists and what size are they?

http://www.safety.odpm.gov.uk/bregs/pdf/ada/ada.pdf appendix A will tell you. 'Normal' timber will be stamped c16 and is grade 3.
