The trapdoor to our loft exists in the doorway to one of the bedrooms. Due to redecoration of those rooms, we don't have an option to move it.
I want to install a pulldown ladder, but because of the door position, I have calculated that we cannot have one much wider than about 30cm wide and furthermore, we will need one that does not depend on a hinging pull down trapdoor - this will have to push up into the loft, perhaps to one side.
However, all of the ladders that I can find online seem to request a minimum trapdoor width of 43 cm (even though the ladders themselves measure around 30 cm). Any ideas why?
