Loft lagging

I’m in process of restoring a Central Heating system in my (old) bungalow.
I’d like to improve my pipe insulation in loft - presently pipes are lagged with a felty looking sleeve.
A quick measure up; I’d need about 80m of the thicker pipe insulation (25mm/pipe/25mm)
I was a bit surprised to find it’s now about £4 a metre.
Is there a more cost effective way to do this - ?

Thanks D

In some cases, the pipes are laid across the joists or the floor. You can flop the loft insulation over the top of them. Depending on layout, you may be able to arrange for them to be under the insulation and receive some heat from the ceiling below.

There must be no exposed uninsulated pipe In gaps.

The thick, "bylaw" grade that you need in an unheated space like a loft is about £3.50

The thinner quality, suitable for use inside the heated house, about half that.

Toolstation is dearer, even with 10% discount.

This is the wrong time of year to have much luck looking for clearance sale prices.

Sometimes you can get it free or discounted from the water Co or government schemes. I don't know any current ones.
